Relief Angle Grinding - Who is it for?

Many people have heard of relief angle grinding but think it is not for them. Do you?

In fact, it is ideal for all cylinder mowers, whether your interest is a golf course, a council park, an hotel, a school, a football club or a bowling green. Any cylinder mower up to 42" wide will benefit from this technique, so why not investigate it further?

Why is it better?

Spin grinding has, for so long, been accepted as the only way. However in this technique, the whole blade is sharpened flat, leaving a large surface area. This leads to friction with the bed knife.

Relief angle grinding, on the other hand, eliminates all unnecessary friction. How? Quite simply, it grinds at an angle, leaving only a leading edge on the blade. Obviously, this stops unnecessary metal to metal contact, so the bed knife can last twice as long. But the benefits do not stop there! Because there is less metal touching metal, less friction, there is less stress on the whole machine; consequently the fuel bills fall and maintenance costs may be halved. But what of the quality of the cut? The finely honed blades leave you with a clean, professional cut, even in wet conditions.
